Dr. Thomas de Maizière,
Federal Minister of the Interior
I would like to wish you all a very warm welcome to the INTERGEO 2017 in Berlin. As patron of the world's largest conference and leading trade fair in the field of geo-desy, spatial data and land management, I invite you to immerse yourself in the world of forward-looking technologies.
This year, GEOSPATIAL 4.0, BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING, BIG DATA and SMART CITIES are among the INTERGEO’S priority issues - important issues we all need to address. But this is not all: We also need to keep an eye on their settings, which range from data security to data protection. What we need here is a good and trustworthy infrastructure. This means that security is always also a digital issue.
The geo industry is one of the sectors with the biggest shortage of skilled labour. This makes the INTERGEO a job fair, bringing together employers and young ex-perts. Many geo technology experts work in the public service. It is therefore in the public interest to recruit young experts in order to add to the workforce.
However, this is not enough to close existing gaps. We need not only good recruit-ment strategies, but also new ideas to overcome bottleneck problems and meet the needs of an ageing workforce. This is where the Federal Government’s demograph-ic strategy “Every Age Counts” comes in, promoting ideas to make the public service more visible as an attractive employer and to adapt future work design.
This means that in the future we need both spatial data and geodesists. I hope INTERGEO 2017 will be an inspirational experience for all participants and give you new insights. I wish you every success and all the best.
Dr. Thomas de Maizière, Member of the German Bundestag
Federal Minister of the Interior
Prof. Hansjörg Kutterer,
Prof. Manfred Weisensee,
Dear Sir/Madam and fellow members of the industry!
Three years have passed and it is time once again for INTERGEO and the German Cartography Conference to invite you to this major event in Germany’s capital city, Berlin. Don’t miss out on this wonderful chance to immerse yourself in the geo-community!
Everyone’s talking about the digitalisation of our surroundings, working environment and everyday life – Geoinformation 4.0, BIM and smart cities are just some of the most popular terms. Innovative forms of capturing data – COPERNICUS, UAVs and other mobile procedures – are becoming increasingly crucial to an extremely wide range of applications and call for innovative processing and presentation methods. These developments have a direct effect on our sector!
INTERGEO and the German Cartography Conference will be addressing precisely these issues. Presentations and discussions with eminent experts will offer appetising food for thought and suggest viable solutions. We will also be looking at future career paths for geodesists. And the choice of Berlin as host city means that themes such as eGovernment and open government will top the agenda. Come and be a part of the action!
We look forward to welcoming you to INTERGEO and the German Cartography Day in Berlin.
