The digital transformation also directly affects the work of geodesists. In a stimulating panel discussion, new and changed requirements for this profession will be examined from various perspectives with a geodata management focus. The way the profession is practised and the training provided must adapt, but how?
With the successful launch of Sentinel 2B and Germany’s CODE-DE platform, which has now been activated, satellite data is increasingly becoming a focal point of numerous new applications. This applies equally to surveying and cartography. The conference sheds light on these developments, also emphasising European aspects.
Our industry is undergoing a dynamic transformation and is increasingly moving into related fields. This is throwing up many new challenges for which solutions need to be found. The conference addresses key issues such as open data, georeferencing 2016 and GNSS as part of Galileo and discusses them in the international context.
The big step the building industry is about to take towards digitalisation also directly affects the geospatial community. This development will be presented and discussed in great detail together with related disciplines at INTERGEO. The third dimension will take on a new, far-reaching significance, initially for surveying.
The DGfK – German Cartographic Society e.V. – will once again be holding its cartography conference as part of INTERGEO. The conference will highlight the importance of this discipline in an increasingly digitalised world. Cartography is constantly meeting new user requirements and this will also be demonstrated at INTERGEO. A scientific discipline is constantly reinventing itself.
